SANDY WEISMAN

Maine has unexpectedly permeated my work since arriving here in 2010, becoming an observer of the natural world from micro to macro, like so many others before me.  In this way Maine is compelling.  I like to take metaphorical leaps, as in Love Letters to Nora, and the Birds of Pray series.  I also like to dwell in the conceptual, as I do in Blue.

As a maker of books, I attempt to incorporate book structures within the work, as is the case with Seaweed and Intertidal Zone series.  As a maker of collages, I have introduced human emotion into the raptors that live here, which you can see in the Birds of Pray collages.
